InforSense Workflow Builder
InforSense Server
Although InforSense is not dependent on any particular Linux distribution, the minimum requirement is that the bundled JRE from Sun will operate on the distribution.
Linux/Unix/Solaris Security Provisions
The InforSense installer should prevent the system from installing under the root account. For Solaris platforms, a new user account must be created for InforSense installation and to run the server. This new account must have write access to the temporary directory of the operating system.
For a server installation under Windows, make sure that 'power user' access rights are enabled.
Hardware requirements vary according to the nature of the tasks being performed within the system, in terms of datasets, algorithms and number of users of the system. The following figures serve as a general guideline to a small workgroup installation with the server supporting approximately 5 users.

For running the InforSense Portal, use the following supported browsers with JavaScript enabled:
InforSense Portal
3rd Party Web Component
Certain integrated 3rd party web components require additional browser permissions and/or
plug-ins to be installed. For example, SVG plug-in for displaying SVG image format outputs, JRE plug-ins for rendering Applet outputs, and ability to run ActiveX components.
InforSense Admin Portal
Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
JRE is bundled with the InforSense installer for all server platforms except Mac OS X. InforSense Workflow Builder users should use the compatible JRE versions as shown in the following table.
InforSense Platform | Bundled in InforSense Server | Required for InforSense Workflow Builder |
InforSense 3.x | JDK 1.4.2_08 (Windows, Solaris) | JRE 1.4.2_08 to 1.4.2_17 |
InforSense 4.x | JRE 1.5.0_09 (all platforms) | JRE 1.5.0_09 to 1.5.0_15 |
InforSense 5.0 | JRE 1.5.0_15 (all platforms) | JRE 1.5.0_09 to 1.5.0_15 |
If client and server are not running on the same machine, it is recommended that they are connected through a high-speed local area network (i.e. 100 MB/s, Gigabit Ethernet). Ideally, network latency should not exceed 50ms roundtrip time. The server may require access to the Internet for certain operations depending on how they are configured.
On the server machine, it is important to make sure all ports specified in the installation are free from use by other programs and the firewall settings on those ports are open for incoming requests from and outgoing responses to clients. Changing port settings after installation is not recommended.
Firewall on Windows
Current versions of Windows, by default, include firewall software which may block client connections to the server. These may need to be configured appropriately to allow connection to the server.
